Am I going to get “big” if I start lifting weights? The answer is NO! The more your weight comes from muscle than fat the less you will weigh!
Whenever I previously considered lifting weights, I would just think about getting “bigger” and how I do not want to look like one of those body builders. However, this is not the case, lifting weights is how your body gets toned and in shape! Recently, I have been trying to lift lightweights and do repetitions at the gym because I want to get more toned. I am not trying to see how heavy I lift just the amount of repetitions I can do before I start to feel my muscles become worked.
Lifting is an excellent way to burn body fat especially around the stomach area. You burn more calories when you lift weights because the more muscles you have the more energy your body uses. Also, I enjoy running as my primary workout and learned that the stronger your muscles are the better you will be at running and be able to have more strength while running.
So, I have finally learned that I will not get “big” instead it will help my body tremendously. You do not have to be tearing up the weight room but simply doing a weight that is the perfect amount for your own body. But remember… NO slacking!!!
